Serve

HOPE worldwide Canada

Volunteers in the Winnipeg chapter of HOPE worldwide Canada have been focused on mutual and respectful service to those in need since 1998. We are a diverse group of volunteers who serve our communities in a variety of ways with the hope that as we do so, we are bringing hope and changing lives. Some of the programs we have facilitated include:

  • A partnership with Winnipeg Child and Family Services that has HOPE worldwide Canada volunteers serving at various events benefiting foster children and their families, as well as events collecting food and household supplies for youth leaving foster care to live on their own
  • An 8 week Life Skills program for youth in foster care who are preparing to live independently.
  • The Christmas Wishlist Program  which allows volunteers and community members to provide Christmas gifts for those in need who often do not have family or friends to encourage them over the holidays
  • Emergency relief fundraising for the Centers of HOPE Philippines, which serve abused and abandoned children
  • Serving the community in Winnipeg with community cleanups, BBQs, blood drives and spending time with the elderly as part of our annual National Day of Service

Winnipeg HOPE Volunteer Corps

HOPE Volunteer Corps (HVC) provides services to communities in need around the world; volunteers who join an HVC can come from anywhere around the globe and they strive to not only serve but to also learn from the communities they serve.

Our Winnipeg Chapter organizes and runs a two week HVC during summer months, housing and serving volunteers who are the camp counsellors for the Max Out Summer! day camp we run for youth in foster care.  Our 2 week day camp provides opportunities for 6-12 year olds placed in care to find joy, friendship and growth amidst the unique struggles they experience.
