What
We Believe

We are a congregation of people who believe that God exists and that He is the creator of all that is.

[1] We also believe that out of His great love for us, he gave us His Word [2] (the Holy Bible) to make Himself known to us and that He gave His Son (Jesus) to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins.[3]

From the Bible we understand that when a person hears the gospel and responds to it with a true faith that results in repentance (a turning away from sin), and baptism (immersion in water in Jesus’ name), he or she has made a decision to follow Jesus as Lord. At the moment of this person’s baptism into Christ, he or she receives the forgiveness of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit and is added to God’s church.[4]

A person, who has thus died to their old way of life[5] and is born again of “water and the Spirit”[6] is a new creation in Christ and begins to live a new life of discipleship because of their love and gratitude for God.[7] Someone who is living as a disciple of Jesus is devoting his or herself to “the apostles’ teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer.”[8] This person is always striving to understand what it means practically to love God with all their heart[9] and to love other Christians as Jesus loved His disciples[10]. The result of such effort is a devoted, dedicated, determined family of believers who are empowered to reach out in word and deed with God’s love to their family, friends, neighbours and strangers.

We would be the first to admit that we have not “already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect”, but we are committed to following the admonition and example of the Apostle Paul when he wrote, “but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me…Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”[11]

Hearing and then responding to the gospel has totally changed our lives in very real, practical and daily ways and continues to impact our characters, our relationships, our desires and our focus.[12] We love to share with others about what God has done (and is doing) for us through his Son, his word and his church. Robert & Kaydi-Ann Borgersen

Lead Ministers, Winnipeg Church of Christ

Robert and Kaydi-Ann have been members of the Winnipeg Church of Christ since their baptisms in 2000 and 1999, respectively. Their involvement evolved from occasional support to leadership roles, with Robert beginning in volunteer leadership in 2004 and Kaydi in 2007. Their journey in leadership has been guided by David and Erica Jung, the past leaders of the Winnipeg Church, enriching their approach to ministry with integrity, compassion, and vision.

Kaydi-Ann’s academic journey led her from psychology to nursing, culminating in a dedicated career in the nursing community since 2007. Her background in psychology and nursing infuses her ministry with empathy and a deep commitment to care. Robert’s path took him through a joint degree in mathematics and computer science, followed by a master’s in mathematics. His commitment to spiritual growth is further demonstrated by his ministry training with Michael Burns in Minneapolis and his pursuit of a Master of Theological Studies from McMaster Divinity.

As parents to Jacob (born in 2010) and Benjamin (born in 2014), Robert and Kaydi-Ann balance their personal and professional lives with the demands of leading a vibrant church community. They are driven by a mission to cultivate a community of disciples in Winnipeg, focusing on deepening their collective relationship with God and making His presence known both within the church and the broader community.

Robert and Kaydi-Ann welcome everyone to join them on this journey of faith, service, and community engagement, committed to creating an environment where all can grow in faith, find purpose in service, and experience the transformative power of God’s love.
